Two other bears from Ligatne Nature Trails try to follow in Made's footsteps
Two bears Mikus and Puika left in the enclosure in Ligatne Nature Trails, from where bear Made escaped last week, tried to follow in her footsteps according to the information received on Friday, 27.April, night about the situation in nature trails.
After having received this information, Environmental Protection and Regional Development Minister Edmunds Sprudzs went to Ligatne to convoke the operational meeting and develop an emergency plan in order to avoid the possible threat to humans and other animals, according to the Environmental Protection and Regional Development Ministry.
«The situation keeps developing in the negative direction – bears are purposefully trying to get out of the enclosure. In order to solve this emergency situation, the Ministry is working together with all competent institutions,» the Minister emphasized.
Currently police standing guard in the territory is ensured by the Interior Ministry. Also the State Fire and Rescue Service is working on the site. In the case of need, the Food and Veterinary Service will provide the necessary soporific equipment.
